Jagannath Puri- The Heart Of Krishna

Do you know why Jagannath puri is the heart of Krishna?

That’s because Krishna is forever with his devotees. Sounds amazing, right? So let’s begin the story of the most loving and notorious lord of the whole universe, Krishna.

Jagannath Puri lives in the Puri village of Odisha, India. It is famous for being the most spiritual yet mysterious temple in the world. It is one of the four (chaar dhams) in India, the other three are Rameshwaram, Badrinath, and Dwarka. Lord Jagannath is worshipped with his siblings, Subhadra (sister) and Balram (brother).

The Mystical History Of Jagannath Puri

The Vast history of Jagannath says that according to the Puranas, like the Sakand Purana. In ancient times, one day, Lord Vishnu came in the dream of Indradhumna, the king of Ujjain Malwa, in a dream at the banks of the Puri Ocean.

The king then discussed the dream with Narad Muni. He suggests finding the place where the lord came. When he starts to search for the place, and gets a divine piece of wood floating in the water, which was the heart of Krishna, and is famous as another form of Krishna.

The king took the wood to the sage Vishwakarma, and he suggested creating an idol of the lord. He put the condition that not to interrupt until the idol is ready.

The king interrupted the process in between, and the idol was left incomplete; the sage was nowhere. But it is said that the sage wanted to keep it like that only.

The Charisma and Beliefs Of Puri

Jagannath Puri is full of miracles, and it says that lord jagannath himself lives there for his devotees. So many miracles happen there.

Firstly, The Mahaprashad (Holy Blessed Food).  The food gets ready in seven different pots, which are one on top of the other, and the ground-level pot is very big in size, while the top-level pot is very small in size. The meal in the topmost pot gets ready first, and the bottom-most, which is very close to the flame, gets ready at last.

The Flags above the Jagannath temple flow opposite side of the wind. And we cannot hear the sound of the sea waves inside the temple.

The plane and birds are not able to fly above the temple, because the lord himself protects the temple.

The temple’s shadow never falls on the ground, which means there is no place for darkness in the divine presence.

The Sudarshan Chakra at the top of the temple looks the same from every direction, which signifies that lord Jagannath always keeps an eye on his devotees from everywhere.

Beliefs of Jagananath

  • The Flag of Jagannath Puri changes every day because the people believe that the temple will close for 18 years if it skips for a single day.
  • It is a ritual that we cannot step on the third stair because the third stair has the footprint of lord Jagannath, and instead of keeping their foot, people bow down to that stair.
  • There, the food is always sufficient, and the devotees never go hungry outside the temple, which means the food is never waste.
  • Every 12 to 19 years, the idols of the gods change, and the ceremony is famous as Nabakalebara, which means ‘new body,’ which signifies the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
  • The Rathyatra is the biggest festival that Puri celebrates every year in June or July, where the idols of lord Jagannath, Subhadra, and Balram go out of the temple in the giant rathas to visit their aunt’s home, which is the Gundicha temple, and come back after 9 days.

Conclusion

The Jagannath Puri is not just a sacred temple; it is a bundle of miracles, mystery, and devotion. Lord Jagananath keeps an eye on their devotees and keeps his arms open to accept or embrace his pure lovers.

The place is also famous as the Moksh Dham because the temple has the divine vibes of purity and truth.

This place is far away from any scientific or human logic, maybe it is because of the ancient architecture,

or the will of lord Jagannath, nobody knows.
